For Utrecht University’s Humanities Honours Programme, students get to set up their own projects freely. We, 6 students in our second year of various humanities studies, came together with the common goal of making our own video game based around the experience of growing up as a woman. On this website, you can download the game, read more about the research and work that went into the game and immerse yourself deeper into the world of our main character, Camilla. Enjoy!

Are you intrigued but not quite sure? Read more about the premise of the game here, find out about our main character, Camilla, and discover the world of Dreamweaver.

Camilla’s story is not over yet. Read about the third part that is still under construction in this section if you’re curious where Camilla’s story will finish.

Behind the Game

  • The Research

To reach a final product that mattered, we each conducted a literature study from various perspectives surrounding games, representation, and womanhood. We were also able to speak to a professional in the field. Read about how both of these aspects influenced our final product in this section.

  • The Process

From February to June, we went from a simple idea to a finished product. All of us had to master new skills within a very short time span. In this section, you can read about our progress in these months, including insights into our creative process and the programming of our videogame.

  • Reflection

Now that this project is (mostly) finished, we look back on it with a lot of pride. However, we also faced a number of challenges. Read about how we overcame these challenges and about everything we learned during this process in our collective as well as personal reflections in this section.
